LeBron James, Damian Lillard, and Steph Curry Express Interest in Representing Team USA at the 2024 Olympics

Two-time Olympic gold medalist LeBron James reportedly has “strong interest” in playing for Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and is trying to get the help of his fellow NBA players in doing the same.

James is said to have already reached out to Davis, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers with him. James also made contact with Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Jayson Tatum, and Kevin Durant of the Warriors, the Suns, and Boston. All five are prepared to fully commit to Team USA.

Davis, Green, Tatum, and Durant have all medaled in the Olympics at least once. According to reports, Curry is interested in playing for Steve Kerr, coach of both Team USA and the Warriors, since it would be his first time competing in the Olympics.

Others who have shown an interest include Damian Lillard of the Trail Blazers, Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks, and De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings.

The Olympic Games will commence when James is 39 years old. Green will be 34 years old, while Curry and Durant will both be 35. At 31, Davis is the younger of the two. The Paris Olympics are being called James and the other veteran players’ “last dance” in Olympic competition.

The fact that several elite NBA players apparently want to compete in the 2020 Summer Olympics bodes well for Team USA, despite the reality that a lot may change between now and then.

The United States basketball team had a lackluster showing in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, which just ended. Due to a dearth of top-tier talent, Team USA failed to medal and settled for fourth place.
