Recent NBA player rankings severely undervalue Los Angeles Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis

The Ringer’s preseason NBA player rankings gave the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James and Anthony Davis low marks.

According to the site, Davis will be the 11th best player in the NBA next year, with James coming in at number 12.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ Austin Reaves, a guard, finished in the 60th spot.

James and Davis are perennial All-Star candidates, but The Ringer thinks they are currently on the fringes of the league’s top 10.

These all-star veterans might be even more fired up for the 2023-24 season after learning they made the list. The 2023 Los Angeles Lakers have some devoted followers after reaching the Western Conference Finals, but they can also find plenty of bulletin board content if they look for it.

Davis will be entering the NBA for the 12th time, while James will be entering his 21st. While healthy last year, both players showed tremendous potential. Unfortunately, they missed substantial time.

The Lakers rely heavily on James and Davis, thus questions surrounding their availability in 2023–24 are still being debated. During the 2022–23 season, Davis appeared in 56 games, while James made only 55.

The Lakers’ march to the Western Conference Finals was aided by the consistent participation of all of their key players.

The 2023-24 season opener for the Lakers is less than a week away. They’ll be taking their show on the road to face the Denver Nuggets in a rematch from the playoffs.

The upcoming season may bring about some subtle changes for both James and Davis. The latter may get increased time at the 4 position as a result of Los Angeles’ offseason signings, while the former may see a reduction in his minutes and workload.

Even if there are a lot of talented teams in the Western Conference, the Lakers deserve to be mentioned in the same breath. James and Davis will be two of the league’s top players if they continue their hot starts from last year.
