Even though the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Milwaukee Bucks 108–97 in the preseason, Anthony Davis had another great game.
The 30-year-old power forward only played in the first half, but he played well against Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has won two MVP awards. In just 19 minutes, Davis scored 16 points, grabbed 7 boards, stole 2 balls, and blocked 2 shots.
He also had five helpers, which is more than he had in all of last year’s eight games. It was also 1-2 for Davis from behind the line, which got Lakers fans excited about his new shooting range.
Antetokounmpo also played great. In 15 minutes, he scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Damian Lillard played in his first preseason game for Milwaukee. He quickly got over his rust by scoring 14 points on 3-10 shooting. In his 22 minutes on the court, the seven-time All-Star point guard also had three assists and three steals.
Taurean Prince, meanwhile, scored eight points and made two of five three-point shots as he tried to make his case for the last front-court spot in the starting group, next to Davis and LeBron James.
In just 17 minutes, new free agent Jaxson Hayes scored 7 points, grabbed 6 boards, passed the ball 4 times, and blocked 3 shots. He is trying to find a place in Los Angeles’ rotation.
