None of us will want to miss the Los Angeles Lakers’ last training game in the NBA. Lakers coach Darvin Ham has said that he will play his players into the second half. This means that LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, and Taurean Prince will all get important minutes to keep building their careers.
Because the Lakers have so many good players, it has been hard to guess who Ham will turn to for games. This game should give everyone a better idea of who the Lakers will play. The only Lakers players who are likely to miss the game are Jarred Vanderbilt, who is still having heel pain and will be checked again on Friday, Gabe Vincent, who has a small back problem and isn’t playing out of safety, and Jalen Hood-Schifino, who has a knee problem.
By chance, these two teams will play each other again next week in the Lakers’ home opener. This will give both teams a good idea of what to expect in their second regular season game. Frank Vogel, who used to coach the Lakers and is now the head coach of the Suns, said that Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are not playing for Phoenix while Kevin Durant is.
The Lakers’ practice has been going well so far because they have built on the teamwork they had last season. Davis has been tough on both ends of the court and looks like he’s going to have a big season. Reaves, on the other hand, has been great in the few games he’s played, hitting 68.8% from the field and 62.5% from three-point range.
One player who has really stood out for the Lakers is D’Angelo Russell. He has been great at scoring, passing the ball, and working hard on defense. But of course, everyone will be looking at James.
This preseason has been easy for LeBron because the Lakers want him to be ready for his 21st NBA season. He has shown some signs, but this will be the first long look at how he is doing. A lot of attention will be paid to how aggressive LeBron is and how much he wants to take charge or defer to his friends.
Another team, the Suns, has the best trio of stars in the NBA: Durant, Booker, and Beal, who they just bought. But the Lakers won’t have to deal with all of them on Thursday. They will have to deal with them early in the season.
Also, both teams aren’t sure who will be the last player in the starting group.
In the last few games, Taurean Prince has played as the fifth player for the Lakers, following LeBron, Davis, Russell, and Reaves. He has done a great job for the team. His effective attack, great shooting, and strong defense have made him a great fit. Rui Hachimura has also played well in the preseason, and there are no signs that he won’t be able to keep up the high level of play he showed in the playoffs.
Vanderbilt is hurt, so it looks like those two teams are in a tie for the last starting spot. This game could decide who wins. The spot for the backup shooting guard has been back and forth between Max Christie and Cam Reddish. Both had their good and bad times.
In the same way, the Suns added a lot of players over the summer. The basketball world will get an idea of who the Suns will play next week by watching how Vogel rotates players like Eric Gordon, Josh Okogie, Keita Bates-Diop, and Grayson Allen.
Of course, the most important thing for both teams is that no one gets hurt during this game right before the normal season starts. Even though it’s not yet the season, this is the first time James and Durant have played together since Christmas 2018. We hope that both of them stay healthy for another week and that streak ends in the second game of the regular season.
