To further their engagement in the Oakland Unified School District, the Currys’ Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation and their partners have pledged an additional $50 million. Curry and his wife Ayesha started the new foundation that focuses on providing support for the 3 basic ingredients of a healthy childhood. They are partnering with Oakland Parks and Recs and other local entities to provide services for underserved Oakland children.

The entire Ermias family stands to gain from this. Lockwood Elementary School, which he attends with his younger brother, has 658 students enrolled as of late last week, with around 65% of them being Hispanic, 25% being Black, and a rising Arabic community as well. The Currys’ ultimate objective is for their kids to become ambitious adults like themselves.
