Giannis Antetokounmpo being the face of a video game franchise is scarcely news these days, but the Milwaukee Bucks star playing football?

The Madden 21 video game will include Giannis and his brothers through a patch that adds their likenesses to “The Yard,” a new mode that offers 6-on-6 games with a backyard football-like visual aesthetic.

With the Bucks, Giannis and his older brother Thanasis left the postseason early. Kostas, the youngest brother, plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, who will attempt to win the NBA championship on Friday. In the Finals, Los Angeles leads Miami 3-1. The Madden NFL 21 game will have all three of them.

According to a press release, “To pay homage to where the Antetokounmpo Brothers’ fell in love with basketball, custom gear displaying nods to their childhoods in Greece will be available in The Yard as well.”

Yesterday, a picture of a football player completing a leaping catch while sporting a No. 34 shirt with the words “Antetokoumpo” on the front was posted on the Madden official Twitter account, hinting at a “crossover”.

Giannis’s passion for football seems to go beyond simple “hike” passes like this one.
