NBA fans have been roasting Philadelphia 76ers star PJ Tucker after his foul-mouthed in the matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The veteran forward, 38, raged after the officials called a foul on him, sending Giannis Antetokounmpo to the free-throw line.
NBA fans have been mocking PJ Tucker for yelling ‘ball don’t lie!’ after Giannis Antetokounmpo missed a free throw in the Philadelphia 76ers-Milwaukee Bucks game
Antetokounmpo is a below-average free-throw shooter, making his miss hardly a Ball Don’t Lie moment
NBA icon Rasheed Wallace popularized the phrase, using it when an opponent missed a free throw after a call he disagreed with to say justice had been served
Antetokounmpo, 28, missed the first freebie with the Bucks leading 34-32 about three minutes into the second quarter.
Tucker then turned back and yelled: “Fuk in ball don’t lie!”
NBA icon Rasheed Wallace made Ball Don’t Lie his signature catchphrase in his playing days, using it to express his displeasure with the officiating.
After a foul call he disagreed with, Wallace would shout it out when an opponent missed a free throw as a way of saying that justice had been served.
But NBA fans pointed out that Antetokounmpo’s miss hardly made for “ball don’t lie!” moment since the Bucks star is a below-average free-throw shooter and his miss was to be expected.
And they mocked the Sixers forward for misunderstanding the phrase.
“PJ Tucker saying ball don’t lie for a Giannis FT, I don’t think it’s ever told the truth for him,” one wrote.
“PJ baby… this is a normal occurrence for him,” another added.
PJ Tucker funny talking about Ball Don’t Lie… Giannis been hitting the rim hard af on free throws,” a third said.
Shortly after Tucker’s tirade, Antetokounmpo failed to convert the second free throw.
When the game started, the Greek Freak had a 70.8% charity stripe shooting percentage.
Over the last four years, his conversion rate has declined even further.
Since the beginning of the 2019–20 NBA season, Antetokounmpo has only made 67.2% of his free throw attempts.
On Thursday, Milwaukee defeated Philadelphia 118-117 following Damian Lillard’s incredible Bucks debut.
Antetokounmpo finished the game with 23 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks, while Lillard finished with 39 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
