Steph Curry lights up the Golden State Warriors against the Sacramento Kings.
ACAPULCO — Steph Curry scored 41 points on Friday night at Golden 1 Center, including the game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds of the Warriors’ 122-114 victory over the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors’ record now stands at 1-1.
Since he scored 38 points in a road opener in 2013, Curry’s 41 points were his most. He shot 14 of 19 efficiently from the field and 7 of 10 from 3-point range. Of his total points, 16 came in a crucial third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Kings began to trap Curry, which fueled an eight-turnover fourth quarter that put the Kings back in the game.
It was only one of the people watching over you. You could see that they were hurling bodies all over the place, trapping people off pick and rolls, or even just sending a different man in transition to look over my hands, according to Curry. However, there comes a point when you can get aggressive as you begin to sense the rhythm and the defense. Making shots is necessary, but the key to getting space is to sense the defense.
In just two games with the Warriors, Chris Paul has amassed 21 assists to go along with just two turnovers. Having 12 rebounds was Kevon Looney.
Curry’s substitutions gave the Kings a 14-0 run that gave them an 11-point lead in the first half, but Golden State prevented the gap from getting out of control. With Curry back, the Warriors surged to a three-point advantage at the half.
Coach Steve Kerr remarked, “I like the combination of what we have with those guys.” “There’s no better combination than Chris, Dario (Saric), Moses (Moody), and JK (Jonathan Kuming). We have floor spacing, playmaking, and shooting.
Halfway through the third quarter, Curry made his 51st career four-point play, which began to give Golden State some breathing room on the scoreboard. After the third quarter, Paul increased that lead to 15 points with Curry off the court and the second unit in place.
The Warriors will play the Houston Rockets in a back-to-back on Sunday before traveling to New Orleans on Monday to play the Pelicans. Before starting a four-game trip to Oklahoma City, Cleveland, Detroit, and Denver to meet the defending champion Nuggets, they will play one game at home against the Kings.
