Steph Curry’s 42 points propel the Golden State Warriors to a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) β Steph Curry scored 42 points to lead the Warriors to a 130-102 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans (2-1) on Monday night.
The Warriors improve to 3-1 on the season, with all of their victories coming on the road.
In just 30 minutes, Curry shot 7-of-13 from three and 15-of-22 from the field. Curry, 35, has had a fantastic start to the season. He scored 24 points (4-of-14 from 3) against the Phoenix Suns, 41 points (7-of-10 from 3) against the Kings, and 16 of his 24 points (6-of-14 from 3) against the Rockets in a fourth-quarter frenzy. So far this season, Curry has a 3 point percentage of 64.8%.
The Warriors were missing Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga, who were out with minor ailments for the second part of the back-to-back. Moses Moody, a reliable three-point shooter, made his 15th career NBA start and his first this season.
Brandin Podziemski made his NBA debut with some minutes available. The rookie was active on both ends of the court, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out two assists. Trayce Jackson-Davis made his NBA debut and scored his first points on a high-flying slam assisted by Chris Paul. He had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, as well as four blocks.
The Warriors head home to play the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, then start a four-city road trip to play the Oklahoma City Thunder for an in-season Tournament game, then they have a back-to-back in Cleveland and Detroit and close the trip against the reigning champion Denver Nuggets.
