With 42 points to lead the way, Steph Curry helps the Golden State Warriors beat the New Orleans Pelicans.
On Monday night, the Warriors defeated the New Orleans Pelicans (2-1) 130-102 behind a season-high 42 points from Steph Curry.
The victory improves the Warriors’ record to 3-1; each of their victories thus far has come away from home.
In only 30 minutes, Curry made 7 of 13 3-point attempts and 15 of 22 overall. Curry, 35, has been on fire thus far in 2019. He scored 24 points against the Phoenix Suns (shooting 4 of 14 from 3-point range), 41 points against the Sacramento Kings (shooting 7 of 10 from 3-point range), and 16 of his 24 points (6 of 14 from 3-point range) against the Houston Rockets in the fourth quarter. Curry has a season three-point percentage of 64.8%.
After suffering minor injuries, Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga sat out the second game of the back-to-back for the Warriors. Moses Moody, an NBA veteran and reliable three-point shooter, got his 15th career start and his first of the current season.
Brandin Podziemski got considerable playing time in his NBA debut. In addition to his eight rebounds, the youngster also dished out two assists as he played aggressively on both ends of the court. After making his NBA debut, Trayce Jackson-Davis played in his second game and scored his first points on a dunk assisted by Chris Paul. He finished with 13 points, 10 boards, and 4 blocks, good for a double-double.
Starting with a home game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, the Warriors will then embark on a four-city road trip that will also include a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder as part of the regular season tournament, as well as back-to-back games in Cleveland and Detroit before finishing against the defending champion Denver Nuggets.
