The Nike Book 1 is the first shoe in Devin Booker’s 2023 signature sneaker line for the Swoosh brand. Recent leaks of early pictures of the next shoe have caused a stir between Booker fans and sneakerheads alike. Many have drawn parallels between the cited sneaker and the Air Force 1, prompting one person to remark,
Sneakerheads and other online commenters shared their reactions to the new signature shoe shortly after the first photographs surfaced online. After comparing Devin Booker’s Nike Book 1 design to the iconic Air Force 1, fans were left disappointed. Their mocking names ranged from “Vegan AF1s” to “Air Fake 1.”
Many have compared it to the popular Air Force 1 model, but at a far lower price. The shoes have been likened by some as a hybrid of the Nike LeBron 20 and the AF1. Some have hypothesized that it is a child-sized replica of the AF1 drone.
A couple of them said they looked like Nike Vandal sneakers. Some online commenters have compared the Nike Book 1 to a cross between the Nike Blazer and the Nike AF1, while others have seen them as a combination of the AF1 and Ja Morant’s Nike Ja 1.
Another one of Booker’s fans said the player deserved a better pair of signature shoes. Several reviewers on the shoe’s official website noted that it looked like a “off-court model” or “lifestyle shoe.”
Others, however, were not happy about the similarities between the Book 1 shoe and the Walmart Vans shoes. They said Nike had stopped making innovative products and that this sneaker was unremarkable.
Another referred to the most recent model as “knockoff Kobe” sneakers, and one said they were worse than Ja Morant’s Nike Ja 1. Similar comparisons to a LeBron + Dunks team were made by another internet user.
