Warriors Injury Update: Kuminga and Klay Questionable, Team Faces Uncertainty

The Golden State Warriors, who were terrible on the road last year, are in New Orleans to take on the Pelicans as part of their first road trip of the season.

You can expect some difficulty. The Pelicans were one of the greatest teams in the NBA last year when they were healthy, and their players are healthy for this one. However, the Dubs will be missing some key players due to injuries as they play their second consecutive night away from home.

Klay Thompson’s status is up in the air due to pain in his right knee.

Golden State Warriors: Positive news for veteran amid contract storyline

While the Warriors were cautious with Klay last year, he has made it known that he plans to play both ends of back-to-backs this season. It appears like he’s fully unrestricted this season, but some discomfort has popped up in his knee that could sideline him. That would be a major blow to the Warriors, as Thompson has shot 14-24 (including 7-14 from deep) in the last two games after a slow start.

Jonathan Kuminga (left knee injury) is questionable to return.

Jonathan Kuminga leads Warriors past Lakers in another impressive show

Kuminga has been one of the top storylines for the Warriors in this young season, with a terrific preseason and a super strong start to the year. It remains to be seen precisely how huge his third-year leap will be, but a year after often finding himself a healthy scratch, Kuminga is a very clear part of the rotation. Hopefully his injury is minimal.

Probable — Draymond Green (left ankle sprain)

Honestly, I never thought Green would suit up for both the Houston Texans and the New Orleans Saints. But after returning on Sunday, he appears poised to play again on Monday. Green missed all of training camp with an ankle sprain, so it’s a tribute to his conditioning that he might be able to leap back into the starting lineup for a road back-to-back.
