On Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors made public their decision to pick up the fourth-year options on Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody’s contracts.
Forward Jonathan Kuminga and guard Moses Moody both had their fourth-year contract options exercised by the Golden State Warriors, the team announced.
The 21-year-old Kuminga has appeared in three games thus far, averaging 11.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.00 steals, and 21.6 minutes per game. He was the youngest player in Warriors history to score 1,000 points, eclipsing Joe Smith’s mark in his first year after being selected seventh overall by Golden State in the 2021 NBA Draft. After 140 games (28 starts), Kuminga has established career averages of 9.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 18.9 minutes. Moody, 21, has played in four games (including one start), averaging 9.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.50 steals, and 19.4 minutes per game. In 119 games (15 starts), he has averaged 4.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 12.6 minutes for Golden State. He was the 14th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
Moody has scored in double figures in eight of his 15 starts. The current NBA CBA specifies that a first-round draft pick receives a guaranteed contract for the first two years, with the third and fourth years being “team options.”
Both Moody and Kuminga have shown signs of growth already this season, and the two are very highly prized by the Warriors.
