Jimmy Butler is a star player for the Miami Heat in the playoffs, helping the team to the NBA Finals, but his side project of producing coffee with his BIGFACE firm is what has the potential to bring in a lot of money.
Even though Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat only makes $45 million a year as an NBA player, his coffee firm has the potential to make him a billionaire.
As he leads the Heat over the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 NBA Finals, Butler is having an amazing postseason. Miami has defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and Boston Celtics in series thanks to the 33-year-old, with the Eastern Conference Finals extending to seven games.
After playing a key role for the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, and Heat during his 12-year NBA career, Butler has an estimated net worth of $80 million. But his BIGFACE coffee business might be his key to enormous wealth.
In 2020, after the coronavirus outbreak caused the NBA bubble, Butler made the decision to make the most of his free time by starting his own coffee company, BIGFACE. Butler started the business by utilizing an espresso machine and coffee beans he purchased from El Salvador to sell $20 cups of coffee to other NBA players.
The strategy worked, as the Heat star, who knew there would be few coffee options in the bubble, used the coffee’s price to target wealthy NBA players. With thousands of sales in Orlando, Butler teamed up with Shopify in 2021 to launch the company through their creator program.
Butler made the decision to register BIGFACE as a trademark in order to establish a company. The six-time All-Star invested $60,000 in coffee beans to launch BIGFACE and appointed Britt Berg as COO.
He opened a physical store after launching BIGFACE on International Coffee Day and doing extensive marketing for it. Butler worked with Lids at Miami Beach and opened pop-up stores during the Miami Open, but he believes that the secret to success is a $100 cup of coffee.
Butler declared, “Specialty coffee is real, and a $100 cup is coming soon.” “One day, I will possess comprehensive knowledge about coffee and its worth.”
Sports entrepreneur Andrew Petcash estimates that whereas Butler’s BIGFACE might hit $1 billion in just 10 million cups, Starbucks has to sell over 364 million cups of coffee at an average price of $2.75 to reach that milestone. He has worked with specialized coffee businesses, such as Artpresso Design, to further strengthen the brand.
In addition to espresso equipment, Artpresso Design and BIGFACE coffee will use their combined experience to develop personalized barista accessories like towels, tamper and distributor tool sets, and milk pitchers. Although Butler’s career has been built on basketball, his respect for and passion in coffee seem to represent the next phase of his development.
Butler remarked, “You know where to find me after my basketball career, and people are like, ‘Man, what is Jimmy doing nowadays?'” “I’ll be making coffee in my cafe, behind the bar.”
Five-time All-NBA player Butler may earn millions riding BIGFACE coffee. He extended his $184 million contract with the Heat for four more years in 2021, during which time he announced his intention to retire. Additionally, he receives over $10 million in endorsement revenue annually from brands like Toyota, Google, Verizon, and TAG Heuer. This suggests that more high-end coffee partnerships may be in the works.
