The Los Angeles Lakers said that Gabe Vincent will be re-evaluated in two weeks because of a swelling in his left knee. This means that he will miss at least a few games.
The Lakers start a four-game road trip on Saturday night against the Orlando Magic. They will also play his old team, the Miami Heat, the Houston Rockets, and the Phoenix Suns.
Because he hurt his knee in Monday’s win over the Magic, Vincent didn’t play in Wednesday night’s game against the Clippers. Darvin Ham, head coach of the Lakers, said that his knee swelled up. He was checked out and told that the injury was bad enough that he would miss some time.
They’ve had a rough start to the year with injuries. Jarred Vanderbilt, Rui Hachimura, Jalen Hood-Schifino, and Taurean Prince have all missed time. Having so many key players out at the start of the season is not good for a new team that wants to bring things together.
Vincent missed the second half of the preseason because of a back injury. He was able to play in the first game of the season, but he hasn’t looked like himself at all in the other four games. The Lakers’ first-year guard scores six points a game and hands out three assists. He shoots 39.3% from the field and 7.1% from three-point range.
Since he will be looked at again in two weeks, it’s likely that he will miss even more time, leaving the Lakers short-handed in the backcourt for now. Max Christie finally got a chance to play in the rotation in Wednesday’s win over the Clippers. He played good defense, so he and Cam Reddish will probably keep getting more chances to come off the bench.
Hachimura is in the concussion procedure.
Another important bench player for the Lakers has been out for the last two games because Rui Hachimura hurt his left eye. He was put in the league’s procedure because he was still showing signs of a concussion. He will also miss some time looking forward to it.
