Although Friday night’s game was the first time Steph Curry and Chet Holmgren had met in an NBA game, it was far from the first time the two had met on a basketball court.
Both Steph Curry and Chet Holmgren remember the day years ago when the former crossed the latter at their own camp.
“He crossed me up at my own camp that year or the year before,” Curry recalled. “To see him now come, I know he had a rough injury at the start of his career, but he’s back now playing healthy and playing well – it’s fun to see.”
For Holmgren, facing Steph Curry in competition was a moment of full circle. Even though Holmgren didn’t win, he still had an incredible time.
“First time playing against him in the NBA, obviously touched on it earlier but great players over there, and he’s one of them,” said Holmgren. You must always be aware of his whereabouts. Going to his camp however many years ago and now being in the league with him and competing is a nice first full-circle moment, I suppose you could call it.
Chet Holmgren and Steph Curry played one other for the first time Wednesday night, but it certainly won’t be the last. There are two more meetings between the clubs this month. I’m hoping that the games tonight’s will set the bar for.
