The Orlando Magic easily trounced the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night, winning 120–101. The result incensed Los Angeles Lakers supporters.
The Orlando Magic were able to atone in part for their devastating loss to the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in the week with their decisive win on Saturday night by a score of 120-101. The Lakers’ fans were furious following the defeat since they were greatly outmatched on both sides of the court.
One chastised the teams for contributing to the humiliation of the fan base.Anthony Davis scored 28 points, pulled down 13 rebounds, dished out three assists, and blocked seven shots to lead the Lakers in this contest. He was unable to stop the Magic from controlling the glass, though, as they outrebounded the Lakers 10 in offensive rebounds and won the board war 51–40. He could not stop the Magic from taking over on the glass.
In contrast, LeBron James finished with a rather unimpressive 24 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals—especially given his regular caliber of play. The biggest disappointment, though, came from D’Angelo Russell, who finished with just 11 points on 4-17 shooting from the field and 1-10 from beyond the arc. Out of all the players on the team, he had the lowest shooting %.
It was disappointing that the Los Angeles Lakers’ high from their victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, which ended their 11-game losing streak, did not translate to this performance. Following the loss, they currently have a 3-3 record. The next Monday, they will play the Miami Heat.
Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, who perform together for the Magic, were especially outstanding. In the end, Wagner scored 26 points, grabbed 5 boards, disheveled 2 assists, blocked a shot, and stole the ball from Banchero, who finished with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists, and a steal. With this win, they improved to 4-2 and maintained their stellar start to the season.
The Los Angeles Lakers are struggling to get off to strong starts in their games this season.
Despite the fact that the season is still extremely early, the Lakers’ dismal starts are beginning to raise serious concerns. The first quarter of this game saw the Magic outscore them by a score of 39-25, which is consistent with a pattern they have been seeing this season.
They were defeated 34–20 by the Denver Nuggets in the opening quarter of their season, and they never really recovered from that setback. After that, they trailed by a score of 30–18 against a diminished Phoenix Suns club, but they rallied to win.
Following that, the Sacramento Kings overcame the Los Angeles Lakers in overtime, winning 41–28. It is interesting to note that the first game of the season the Lakers played against the Magic was the first occasion this season that they led after the first quarter of play, as they did so with a 29-24 advantage.
However, they were unable to build on that success against the Clippers, as they ended up falling down by a score of 37-24 before staging a comeback and ultimately taking the game in overtime. As a result of LeBron and Davis playing out of their minds, they were able to win some of these games despite falling behind early, but this strategy can only be maintained for a limited amount of time.
The remainder of this season is going to be a bust if they don’t start these games off with a greater sense of urgency than they have been showing thus far. Because of this, Ham and his coaching staff need to do a better job of game planning. Part of this is due to the fact that they are being outcoached. The Lakers have a lot of time to turn things around, but since it may be difficult to break poor habits, it’s best if they make the necessary adjustments as soon as possible rather than later.
