Kevin Durant, a forward with the Golden State Warriors, has approved of LeBron James’ decision to join the Los Angeles Lakers.
Durant told The Undefeated’s Marc Spears that he “absolutely loved” James’ choice and that James’ decision to head West was a “perfect move.”
“I loved it. “It was fantastic,” Durant exclaimed. I think it was a brilliant move; he fulfilled all of his responsibilities in Cleveland. This is the best move for him, and he’s challenging the stereotype of an NBA all-star in the process. There’s a sense that everything must take place in a single location. He did an excellent job separating the book into sections. It’s going to make for a more intriguing book when he’s done, in my opinion.
Durant also discussed the summer’s most surprising free agent signing, DeMarcus Cousins, who joined the Warriors.
When DeMarcus joined the Thunder, Durant was “so excited” because he “knew how important this time was for DeMarcus,” he added, “to find a team and find somebody that is going to help him get through this injury first and then play his best basketball.”
Durant informed Spears that he received calls (which he ignored) while he was at the movies but that by the time he arrived home, the deal had already been finalized. He FaceTimed with Cousins and also phoned Warriors general manager Bob Myers.
I believe it will work wonderfully in either setting. For the two of us.”
According to Durant, he is unconcerned by the criticism he has received for the switch.
“It made sense. Nobody enjoys a superb item. I understand why people could be put off by greatness; it stands out from the crowd. Both his and our approach were appealing to me since we came in with a focus on basketball. Once you look at it that way, it works out nicely.”
He and the Warriors are anticipating the return of DeMarcus Cousins and crossing their fingers that it comes before the year ends. Durant was eager to point out that the organization is taking its time with Cousins’ recovery because they want him to be 100 percent when he returns to action.
To learn from new Team USA coach Gregg Popovich, Durant is one of 35 players invited to a minicamp in Las Vegas.
For a long time, Coach K was in charge. It’s going to be a different but pleasant transition just to have another great basketball mind at the lead,” Durant remarked. I simply wish to educate myself and be prepared to, God willing, serve my nation when the time comes. I’m looking forward to the next few days because I just want to be completely ready.
Durant also talked about previous lunches he has had with LeBron James and shared his opinions on the Kawhi Leonard-DeMar DeRozan swap that went place last week.
