LeBron James is 38 years old and in his 21st season. He can only do so much.
The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Miami Heat 108–107 on Monday at Kaseya Center, but it wasn’t because the King wasn’t great. When the Purple and Gold were down by ten points or more in the last four minutes, James put them on his back and almost finished the comeback.
He scored 30 points, grabbed four boards, passed the ball three times, and blocked three shots. He also made 13 of 23 field goal attempts. He did some old-school dunks and even a chase-down block, which Heat fans would recognize from when he played in Miami.
Even though Los Angeles is still 3-4 on the season, they lost their second game in a row.
Anthony Davis came and went from the game, D’Angelo Russell was kicked out, and Austin Reaves (23 points, 10 boards, and 9 assists) was the only player who really helped James. When it mattered most, Miami tried to stop James. With seconds left, No. 23 passed the ball to Cam Reddish, who took the last shot but missed it.
