Fans were surprised by the Golden State Warriors’ offseason decision to acquire Chris Paul. Paul’s ability to mesh with the team he’s competed against for so long was a major concern. And whether or not he would be able to play effectively alongside Steph Curry. After eight games, it appears that Paul is a perfect match for Golden State.
Assistant coach Brian Fraser of the Warriors gave an exclusive chat to Sportskeeda’s Mark Medina not too long ago. During their talk, Fraser emphasized how Paul gives the Warriors another high-IQ guard who can direct the offense and create for players around him. He also went into detail about how effective Curry and Paul can be as a tandem and as teammates who look out for each other during games.
Paul and Curry have shown promise as a dynamic backcourt combination when they’re on the court together. The real benefit, though, comes from being able to swap out Curry with another top-tier point guard whenever necessary. When Paul gets on the court as the second option for his team, opponents will have a hard time keeping up with him.
The Warriors have started the season with a 6-2 record. Both individually and as a team, Curry and Paul have excelled. The arrival of Paul greatly improves the Warriors’ chances of becoming a serious title contender this year.
