Los Angeles Lakers wrote to NBA officials to make complaints about LeBron James

The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James are unhappy with the way refs have been calling games so far. They have called the NBA’s league office to find out what’s going on.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported on Tuesday that James and the Lakers shared several videos showing what the Lakers thought were clear fouls by Miami Heat players during Monday night’s 108-107 loss. The referees didn’t call the fouls, which is why they protested. The Lakers are making 24.6 free throws per game, which is the seventh most in the NBA after seven games. The Lakers made a total of 14 free throws against the Heat. James made four of them, which was the most on the team. While Miami, on the other hand, made 16 free throws, with star Jimmy Butler making seven of them.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is livid because there has been a lack of calls called the Lakers' way.

Even though it’s still early in the year, James is likely to make the fewest free shots of his career. The 38-year-old is making about 5.7 free throws per game, which is less than the 7.7 he made on average over the course of his career.

He makes 12.0 drives per game, which is 23rd in the NBA, and he tries 1.4 free throws, which is tied for 16th. Another thing about James is that he has only been fouled on 6% of his drives, which is the eighth-lowest rate among the 34 players this season who have had 70 or more drives.

To give you an idea, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder leads the league with 22.3 drives per game. At 4.0 per drive, Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas and Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid have both tried the most free throws this season.”They’re not telling the truth about what’s happening on the floor,” the four-time MVP told reporters after the game. “It was clear that Thomas Bruant elbowed me when I tried to dunk against him; his arm was straight across my face.”

“Well, one of the refs said that he was straight up with his hands in the air, so I asked him what was going on.” Two of the refs said they were blocked and didn’t see it.

People on social media were talking about how the Lakers made the most free throws in the 2022–23 NBA season, which is an interesting coincidence. The Lakers then sent a protest to the league office. Most free throws made: 2,182; the Lakers made 76 more than the Detroit Pistons for second place. For comparison, the Lakers have made 76 more free throws than the Pistons, which is almost the same as the difference between the ninth-most free throws made by the Detroit Pistons (2,106) and the Portland Trail Blazers (2,021).

Reporters asked James about it. He said it’s “weird” that he drives so much but doesn’t get many calls, but he will keep driving to “see if it turns.” We don’t know how useful that will be yet.
