When Jaylen Brown, a swingman for the Celtics, goes to his first All-Star game, he will show some flash from his youth. Tracey McGrady, a former NBA star, tweeted at Brown in August 2014 while he was still in high school: “Remember Humble and Hungry.”
Brown will have unique “Hungry & Humble” shoes for the 3-point shootout and the All-Star game at 8 p.m. Before the game on Sunday, the 24-year-old Celtics star put the pair of shoes—one blue and one red—on his Instagram story. See the shoes on Brown’s Instagram story.
Brown was named to his first All-Star team, and he got to do it in Atlanta, where he grew up. This season, the ex-Cal player is averaging 24.7 points, 5.6 boards, and 3.9 assists per game. He will play on the court at State Farm Arena against Jayson Tatum, another star player for the Celtics.
The two Celtics stars are not going to work together, though. Tatum will play for Team Durant, and Brown will play for Team LeBron. Both of them have said a lot of bad things about each other as they prepare to fight. Also, there will be some friendly competition in the 3-point shootout.
It doesn’t matter who wins either race; Brown may have already won the shoe game.
