On Tuesday night in Los Angeles, LeBron James made history with the help of a lot of famous pals.
NBA legend, 38, broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record in front of a crowd that included JAY-Z, Denzel Washington, Woody Harrelson, Floyd Mayweather, Usher, Bad Bunny, Dwyane Wade, LL Cool J, and many more.
In 1984, Abdul-Jabbar, now 75 years old, established a record that has since seemed impossible to beat. James needed 36 points entering the game to pass Abdul-Jabbar; he scored 20 in the first half and reached the mark in the third quarter, earning his 38,388th career point to become the all-time NBA scoring leader.
Abdul-Jabbar came out onto the court to congratulate James as the game was stopped to recognize the moment of celebration. The National Basketball Association later tweeted, “What a moment,” accompanied by photos of the handshake and basketball baton toss between the two icons.
