D’Angelo Russell led Los Angeles with 11 points and 11 assists, and after only winning three of their first eight games, the team has won two straight after making some changes to its starting lineup.
Jerami Grant led the Trail Blazers with 23 points, 15 of which came in the fourth quarter, and Shaedon Sharp added 19 more. Portland’s Skyler Mays scored 15 points and dished out 12 assists, while Matisse Thybulle scored 14 points and Deandre Ayton scored 12.
A trio of injuries kept Malcolm Brogdon, Scoot Henderson, and Anfernee Simons out of action for Portland. Robert Williams III’s season is over due to a knee injury.
The up-and-down Trail Blazers started the season 0-3, then won their next 3, but have now lost three in a row.
Before the Lakers took over in the fourth quarter, the Blazers had a 57-56 halftime lead and a 61-56 advantage. With 3:41 left in the third quarter, Los Angeles embarked on a 15-2 run to grab an 81-70 lead, and they carried that 91-80 advantage into the final frame.
