Suns Charities Collaborates with Phoenix Muralist to Craft Exclusive 2022-23 Devin Booker ‘Starting Five’ Class Sweatshirt

On Thursday, the Phoenix Suns Charities announced that they had teamed up with local muralist, street artist, and designer Sentrock to produce a limited-edition hooded sweatshirt honoring Devin Booker’s Starting Five for the 2022-2023 season..

Both Booker and the Suns unveiled their new sweatshirt for the next season on Instagram on the same day.

Booker has pledged $2.5 million yearly to Phoenix Suns Charities through his Starting Five philanthropy program, which he established in 2019. They give away $200,000 to five different charities every year.

Booker said after the Suns’ win against the Hornets on Wednesday, “It’s one of the most exciting things that I’m a part of, I’d say mostly because we’re 20 organizations in now, all nonprofits here in Arizona.”

We’re always looking for new ways to surprise our fans, but doing so in front of their friends and family on their own court is truly unforgettable.

The program’s goal is to aid disadvantaged children and their families all around Arizona.

To further involve artists and fans in the program, Booker launched a line of limited edition gear in its second year. The charitable efforts of the Phoenix Suns will benefit from all sales.

Sentrock’s distinctive character, Bird City Saint, is the focal feature of the sweatshirt’s artwork. The figure represents a young person with aspirations of soaring to new heights and realizing their full potential. The artist honed his graffiti art skills in Mexican American communities.

To be employed by the institution I watched grow up is something I’ve always fantasized about. Sentrock explained, “I grew up in the ’90s watching Barkley and KJ, so when I received the call, I knew I had to give it my best. To me, the five characters in the Starting Five logo represent a united front.

In addition, Booker’s involvement with Sentrock follows a tradition of charitable work by the Suns’ three-time All-Stars in the Mexican-American community in Phoenix. Booker attended the Chicanos Por La Causa Community Center’s court dedication project ceremony on February 1 in Phoenix.

Phoenix Charities’ online store now has Starting Five sweatshirts available while supplies last.
