USA TODAY Sports has learned that LeBron James, the star player for the LA, has signed a lifetime deal with Nike.
They asked to remain anonymous because they weren’t allowed to talk to the public until Nike made the deal official.
James has had a deal with Nike since he first joined the NBA. It was for seven years and $93 million. In 2010, he made a new deal with Nike that paid him more and kept him there longer.
Forbes magazine said that from February 2014 to January 2015, Nike sold $340 million worth of shoes with James’ name on them. Forbes said James makes about $44 million a year from deals, on top of the $20 million or more he makes from the Cavaliers.
In its 44-year history, this is the first time Nike has made a deal with a competitor that lasts a lifetime.
