On Monday night, Jrue Holiday scored his 15,000th professional point with a 3-pointer against the New York Knicks in the third quarter. Before the game, the former All-Star only needed 9 points to hit this new mark.
Holiday was picked by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 17th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. He was moved to the New Orleans Pelicans a few years later, and that’s where he made his first All-Star game in 2013. Holiday’s best skill has always been his defense, but he has also always been a strong attacking weapon. Since the 2017–18 season, Holiday has scored at least 19.0 points in every game. He is currently ranked 151st in NBA history for career points.
Before Monday’s game, people asked Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla what effect Holiday had. Mazzulla said that Holiday’s game is very lively.
Maszula said, “He can change the game in a lot of different ways.” “Being able to do things like that can make him feel undervalued at times.”
Mazzulla said, “I’ve seen him do very well in the role we have him in.” “He is free to play in different situations and is given the tools to make plays on defense and on offense when he wants to. We use him in a number of different areas.”
Holiday has scored 12.8 points, given out 5.9 assists, and grabbed 7.3 rebounds per game for the Celtics this season, which is the most in his career. The Celtics have had a great start to the season thanks in large part to Holiday. The 33-year-old has a great chance to really add to his career scoring totals this season and beyond.
Mazzula said of Holiday, “He’s been great for us.”
