Step into Style: Devin Booker Unveils Arizona-Inspired License Plate on His New Converse Chuck 70s

In his collaboration design for Converse, basketball star Devin Booker puts his own spin on the timeless Chuck 70.

The Converse Chuck 70 in muted tones is a reflection of Booker’s understated fashion sense on the court.

“It goes with everything I wear,” Booker adds in the unpacking video. I just feel at ease in that setting. You can take this in whatever direction you like. You can paint it; you can bleach it. Everything I create aspires to be that way: uncluttered, traditional, and enduring.

The shoe’s undyed canvas construction gives it an ivory hue and a simple aesthetic while also making a nod to Arizona. This gives customers a choice between wearing the shoes as is or customizing them.

In honor of Booker’s affinity for antique cars—in particular, the iconic 1959 Chevy Impala he dubbed “Pretty Penny”—the rubber heel of the shoe features an Arizona license plate.

“The license plate on the back, paying homage to my first classic car that I got,” explains Booker. Awesome tribute to my first pair of Converse shoes and my first automobile! On the heel is a license plate that reads “Arizona 75 classic car A1N” and “Grand Canyon State.”

Booker, who is known to wear a pair of Chucks whenever he enters a basketball arena, can now flaunt his own creation.

Booker says of his creation, “The silhouette of the Chuck is my favorite part of it.” “I removed the toe cap and embroidered the company’s logo.”

Booker wore the shoe for the first time on April 9 when he walked out of the tunnel before the Suns’ regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Along with the April 12th debut of the sneaker, Converse also published a 30-second short made by Jaimie Sanchez that was “inspired by (Booker’s) Mexican-American heritage, the Phoenix desert, classic cars, and his timeless style.”

The $95 shoe, which went on sale on the Converse website on April 12 for the Phoenix Suns player, quickly sold out. A day after their release, the sneakers were already gone at Foot Locker.
