Latest Caleb Martin update indicates more good news for Miami Heat - Heat  Nation

On a six-game winning streak, the Miami Heat will receive one of its top reserves back from injury. Forward Caleb Martin is expected to return for the Heat against the Brooklyn Nets at Kaseya Center on Thursday (7:30 p.m., Bally Sports Sun, NBA TV).

Martin, who has missed 10 games with left knee tendinosis, is listed as available for Thursday’s game against the Nets. Left knee soreness began during offseason workouts in the weeks before training camp for Martin, 28. Why Has Caleb Martin Struggled During The NBA Finals?

After a few training camp practices, he missed the Heat’s Red, White, and Pink intrasquad scrimmage on Oct. 9 and their first four preseason games. Martin felt better after resting his knee and played in the Heat’s fifth and final preseason game. 

Martin then appeared in the Heat’s Oct. 25 season-opening win over Detroit. In 20 minutes off the bench, he scored two points on 1-of-7 shooting from the field and looked unrecognizable on both ends. Martin, who can become a free agency this summer with a $7.1 million player option for next season, is expected to be a top Heat reserve this season. 

Last season, he set career highs in points (9.6), rebounds (4.8), and assists (1.6). Tyler Herro (sprained right ankle), Jamal Cain (G League assignment), and R.J. Hampton (sprained right knee) are the only Heat players out for Thursday’s game against the Nets. Martin is anticipated to return.
