LeBron James had his 108th career triple-double, and the Lakers tried to come back in the fourth quarter, but the Sacramento Kings beat them 125–110 to win their fourth straight game. Domantas Sabonis had 29 points and 16 boards.
The Kings beat Los Angeles for the fifth time in six games, ending their three-game winning streak. De’Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter each scored 28 points for the Kings. Huerter made six three-point shots.
For the first time in his 21st NBA season, James had a triple-double with 28 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. This broke a tie with Jason Kidd for the fifth-most in NBA history.
The Kings have won three straight games in Los Angeles against the Lakers. Early in the fourth quarter, their three best scorers gave them a 26-point lead. It was amazing that the Lakers kept their starters in the game. They went on a 30–13 run, but they never got closer than nine points and lost.
It was the first time in six games this season that the Lakers lost at home. D’Angelo Russell scored 28 points. In Los Angeles’ fourth game in six days, Anthony Davis only scored nine points (3 of 9) and grabbed nine boards.
Last month, the Kings beat the Lakers in OT in Sacramento. In this game, they got out to a 19-point lead in the first quarter. Even though the Lakers were down 106–80 with 11 minutes left, coach Darvin Ham kept his players in the game.
With 3:05 left, Cam Reddish’s 3-pointer cut the Los Angeles lead to 119-110. But James turned the ball over and missed a 3-point shot on the Lakers’ next two plays.
The Lakers had a three-game losing streak that ended with their first blowout win of the season on Tuesday over Memphis. The loss ends a good stretch of play for them. Again, Los Angeles had trouble stopping 3-pointers; they let the Kings make 16 after the Grizzlies made 20.
There were four points made by Davis in the first four minutes of the game. He didn’t score again until the fourth quarter.
