Tuesday night’s 104–101 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves was notable because star player Steph Curry was not there because his right knee hurt. During a press conference at Chase Center, Coach Steve Kerr shared good news about the team.
“There was good news with the MRI,” Kerr told the press. It’s not a big deal, so I’d say he’s day to day for now. This is all we’ll say every day to let you know what’s going on. It won’t take long. As long as he doesn’t miss more than two games, it won’t be a big deal.
Even though Curry wasn’t there and pros Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were thrown out early, the Warriors were almost certain to win. Brandin Podziemski and Dario Šarić stepped up and scored more than 20 points in a game, becoming the first Warriors players other than Curry to do so this season. As Golden State worries that Curry might miss more games, keeping the offense going is very important.
The Warriors are relieved by Kerr’s good news. They are now 6-6 and in eighth place in the Western Conference. At first, it was thought that Curry had sprained his right knee, but more tests have shown that this is not the case. This means that Curry may not be out for long.
Curry might have hurt his knee when he fell near the Timberwolves’ bench in the second quarter of Golden State’s game against Minnesota on Sunday. The 35-year-old guard kept playing even though he looked like he was in pain at first. As the game went on, the limp seemed to get better.
