Kevin Durant is taking a vacation, like most NBA players do throughout the offseason. During Labor Day weekend, he is now in Maui, where he is enjoying a particular watersport and lounging on the beach.
Photographs taken by TMZ Sports showed the defending Finals MVP attempting to stand up on a surfboard. He even had a long board that he tried to ride, but his tall, lean frame wouldn’t fit; he ended up having to settle with sitting on it.
Even if he didn’t do very well in his new pastime, what matters is that he enjoyed himself while trying, and that he was able to unwind in the weeks leading up to training camp for the Golden State Warriors. He would benefit greatly from taking a break from basketball for the time being so that he can relax his body and refocus for the upcoming campaign.
He will come back to work with his colleagues in October as they begin their quest to defend the title they won last June. Although surfing wasn’t his strongest suit, he has proven time and time again that he belongs among the NBA’s finest on the court.
