Because they had lost earlier, the Los Angeles Lakers played the Houston Rockets at home on Sunday night to get back at them.
Both LeBron James and Anthony Davis played even though they were hurt, and it helped the Lakers win 105–104.
Davis made two straight baskets early in the game, and D’Angelo Russell made a 3-pointer to put the Lakers ahead 7-0. But Dillon Brooks scored for the Rockets to make it a tie.
They got off to a slow start, but Fred VanVleet scored two three-pointers that really changed the game. Los Angeles, with Taurean Prince in charge, was very cold, which gave Houston its first lead of 10 points or more.

They scored six straight points to start the second quarter. James made it easy for Rui Hachimura to make two layups, so the Rockets quickly called a break. James then made two free throws and a three-pointer to put the Lakers ahead.
But near the end of the half, L.A. played badly. The Rockets led 55–49 at halftime after Brooks made another three-pointer and Jalen Green made a layup.
The Lakers knew exactly what they wanted to do in the third quarter: they were going to go after Rockets big man Alperen Sengun. Sengun had to sit down because he was called for four fouls early in the second half. Davis was able to work down low, and he and James made some easy points to put the Lakers back ahead.
Their offense was having a tough time, but Brooks and Jeff Green made some big shots to keep their team in the game. The Lakers couldn’t make a good three-point shot until Cam Reddish did. After Brooks’s score, James made one to give L.A. an 81-75 lead going into the fourth.
When James scored to start the fourth quarter, the Lakers had their biggest lead yet, eight points. However, the Rockets began to chip away at the lead to keep it close. Back-to-back threes by Brooks, who was already having a great night, pulled them within one point, 94-93, with a few minutes left in the game.
Luckily, James was also on fire and answered with his own three-pointer to keep the Lakers in the game while Davis took a short break for five fouls.
As the last minute began, the score was tied at 100. Davis was then called for a charge and struck out. But the Lakers were able to make a big stop, and then Reaves made another long three to put the Lakers ahead with 23.7 seconds left.
