“Christmas with the Currys” Brightens Holidays for 500 Needy Families at Oakland’s The Bridge Yard

Stephen and Ayesha Curry’s Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation brought Christmas to West Oakland on Sunday.

On Sunday, the couple and numerous sponsors celebrated the 10th Annual Christmas at The Bridge Yard.

Winter Wonderland benefited 500 Oakland families in need this holiday season. Family-friendly activities included a skating rink, ice arcade, snowballs, face painting, lit ring swings, and Santa Claus photographs.

The annual event distributed free books to children and families to encourage holiday reading with cooperation from the Oakland Literacy Coalition, Black Cultural Zone, and Oakland Public Library.

Christmas with the Currys offered non-perishable meal kits, household goods and technology, apparel, gift cards, toys, games, event tickets, Literati books, and more.

Under Armour gave families in attendance Curry Brand basketballs and bags as part of Curry Brand’s objective to make basketball more accessible to youngsters in cities that inspired Stephen’s career and life.

All day, families enjoyed a tailored Fairyland event with winter wonderland touches. Families played ice skating, swung from illuminated swings, frosted cookies, and tossed snowballs.

Children met Santa and Mrs. Claus, while others posed in the Snow Globe picture booth. Sledding on a Jack and Jill Snow Hill, amusement rides, and take-home story time stations were also available.
