Six Boston Celtics scored in double figures, led by Jaylen Brown’s 26 points. The Celtics went on to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 119–116 on Wednesday night.
Brown made 10 of 16 field goals, including 3 of 5 three-pointers. He also led both teams with 8 assists and only 1 mistake.
Boston led by as many as 21 points in the first quarter and as early as the second. However, the Bucks mounted a fierce comeback in the fourth quarter. The score was 115–111 with 20.1 seconds left, and Milwaukee had a chance to cut the lead to just one point. But they couldn’t make a basket.
With one out left, Boston scored by making free throws in the dying seconds. However, Malik Beasley of the Bucks beat the buzzer with a three-pointer that sealed the win.
From the beginning of the game, when Brown scored the first slam dunk, Brown’s adventures were the main plot:
His work was very much needed after the Bucks almost beat Boston after a great fourth quarter in which they scored 37 points. Brook Lopez, a center for Milwaukee, scored 28 points, Damian Lillard added 27, and Giannis Antetokounmpo had a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
But Brown and the C’s made it through.
In Monday’s 121–118 OT loss to the Charlotte Hornets, Brown only made 5 of 17 shots (0 of 5 from three-point range) and had a net negative of 23. This was a great comeback game for him.
After a huge win over the soaring Bucks on Wednesday, that game seems like a long time ago. The Bucks had won five straight games before Wednesday.
People who watched and talked about the game praised Brown, who was the best player on the court for most of the night.
The 12–3 Celtics, led by Brown, have the best win–loss record in the NBA. On Friday afternoon, they will play the Orlando Magic in an In-Season Tournament game. Boston is up 2-0 in the tournament so far.
