Space Jam: A New Legacy hits cinemas (on HBO Max) on July 16, making this week one of LeBron James’ biggest. This week got greater as Epic Games announced that LeBron James will join Fortnite’s Icon Series on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at 8 PM ET.

This tremendous cooperation between Epic Games and The SpringHill Company emphasizes what makes LeBron LeBron (from his crown to his chest to his kicks) and goes further: On Instagram, LeBron duplicated the King’s outfit.

Epic Games President Adam Sussman said LeBron James is the perfect fit for their Icon Series. Founder and CEO of The SpringHill Company, Maverick Carter, said LeBron is a huge Fortnite fan, so bringing him into the game feels like a no-brainer, especially during the week that SpringHill releases its long-awaited Space Jam sequel. However, this is a deeper partnership between SpringHill and Epic,

“We really focused, with this Icon Series, on picking personalities that had some relationship with Fortnite,” Sussman says, “and really found unique ways to bring those personalities into the universe where they can express who they are in a way they can’t do in the real world, and then connect that expression with what happens in the game [and] what’s happening in real life in a way they can’t do anywhere else on That began with Fortnite fans and influencers and moved into sports. “That’s why we’re so excited with LeBron,” Sussman says, “because this is really unique opportunity for us to take the Icon Series to an entirely new level.”

The LeBron James Outfit is a bad blend of his personality (lion, crown) and on-court and pre-game tunnel looks. “With LeBron, we want to do way more than just putting LeBron in the game,” Sussman says. “We wanted to make sure it was at the right time and [that] we had this expression of his legacy. Was multidimensional. We’re introducing a well-rounded 360-degree view of LeBron into the game in a very authentic way, including him as a world-class player, an actor in Space Jam: A New Legacy, and a family man with the Taco outfit.

That’s right: Fortnite will get two more LeBron James Outfits on July 14. The first, Tune Squad LeBron, references Space Jam: A New Legacy and features LeBron’s Taco Tuesday version with back bling. The King James Gear Bundle includes a Lion Pickaxe, Wingspan Glider, and all of this. With progressive edit sliders on the Outfit, Back Bling, Pickaxe, and Glider, you can create over 20 golden LeBron Outfits. Every outfit includes LeBron’s upcoming Nike LeBron 19.

That’s a lot of LeBron in your Fortnite, which is suitable for a four-time NBA champion, MVP, scoring champion, and philanthropist, but it also signals the start of Epic Games’ partnership with SpringHill. “We’ve always admired what Epic has done,” Maverick Carter adds, “specifically around empowering creators to really be their most authentic self within Fortnite.” That’s why LeBron’s Taco Tuesday Outfit and magnificent lion cauldrons on his shoulders are so vital. “They allowed us to be our most authentic selves,” Maverick says.

Oscar-winning designer Ruth E. Carter and Ironhead Studios’ Jose Fernandez (who you saw making sure LeBron’s fit was perfect) brought that authenticity to life. Carter, a Hollywood great who has styled T’Challa (Black Panther) and Akeem (Coming 2 America), understood the challenge and was crucial. “I’m a tremendous fan of LeBron James,” she says, “not only as a basketball champion but also as an active supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs, of which I am an alumnus. I think we don’t uplift our community enough when they achieve big things like LeBron. I just wanted to participate.”
