The team doctors will check on Hachimura again in about a week. Until then, he will miss at least four games on the road trip that starts next week against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Detroit Pistons, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The injury comes at a bad time for the Lakers because they have been short-handed lately with Jarred Vanderbilt, Cam Reddish, and Gabe Vincent all out.

This looks like Hachimura’s second hit to the face so far this season; he’s already missed four games because of a possible concussion. The forward seemed to be in a bit of an offensive groove after coming back from that injury. In nine games, he averaged 13.0 points, 4.1 boards, and 52.4% shooting from the field and 46.2% from 3-point range.

Hachimura has played 12 games this season and has averaged 11.8 points and 3.8 rebounds. He has shot 50.5% from the field and 42.9% from 3-point range. After a great playoff showing last year, he re-signed with the Lakers on a three-year deal this past off-season.

Guys like Max Christie, Christian Wood, and Jaxson Hayes will continue to play more minutes for L.A. while Hachimura is out. With left adductor pain, Reddish is currently listed as day-to-day. The Lakers hope that he will be back in the game as soon as possible to give them at least some wing depth. He might not be able to play in Cleveland on Saturday.

Vanderbilt and Vincent probably have a little longer to go before they can come back than Reddish, but they both look like they are making progress.

At 9–7, the Lakers have had a rough start to the season. Injuries have been a big part of that. Since Hachimura is goinag to miss more games, other players will have to step up to keep L.A. from going below 500 on the road trip that is coming up.
