NEW YORK (AP) — With 1.7 seconds left, Devin Booker sank a game-winning 3-pointer. He ended with 28 points, 11 assists, and helped the Phoenix Suns defeat the New York Knicks 116-113 on Sunday to win their seventh straight.

The Knicks gave Booker more attention than usual throughout the game since Kevin Durant was sidelined for the second straight game due to a painful right foot. However, Booker sprinted to regain possession of the ball after they forced him to give it up originally during the Suns’ last possession, and he launched the game-winning shot from behind the arc directly in front of New York’s bench.

Seventeen of Julius Randle’s 28 points came in the third quarter.

In the first game Durant missed, Booker scored 40 points on Friday in a victory over Memphis. When he gave it up, the other Suns players made enough baskets to let Phoenix play from ahead for the majority of the game. The Knicks appeared committed to making him a passer on Sunday.

Before the game, Durant tested his foot in an on-court workout, but the Suns later declared he would be out again. Due to the injury, Durant was unable to continue his winning streak, which dates back to his first NBA team and spans ten years. During his time with Golden State and Brooklyn, he never lost to the Knicks and has won the last 13 games he has played against them. On April 7, 2013, he suffered a defeat against Oklahoma City.

Gordon scored 12 points in the first quarter, and the Suns opened up a 34-22 lead by outrebounding the Knicks 17-8 (Jusuf Nurkic had seven). By halftime, the Knicks had cut it to 64-56.

Before the Knicks could eventually get into the game, the Suns had a 15-point advantage. With two and a half minutes remaining in the third quarter, Randle started sprinting to the hoop and hit successive baskets to cap off a 20-5 run that gave New York its first lead at 86-84. Brunson and Immanuel Quickley also made 3-pointers during a 10-0 spurt.

After three, Jordan Goodwin’s 3-pointer gave Phoenix a 95-92 lead.
