There was a recent public display of camaraderie between Jimmy Butler III of the Miami Heat and Colombian musician J Balvin.
On Tuesday, they played a pick-up game of basketball and posted videos to Instagram Story documenting the friendly competition. Fans took note of the reggaeton singer’s footwear following the post, noting that he was sporting an unreleased hue of the Air Jordan 3s—the newest iteration of his 2022 shoe collaboration with Nike.
Balvin and Butler took a break from pacing the floor and shooting hoops to relax on a bench, where they posed for selfies with players and shared the photos on social media.
The losing pair waving their fingers at the winning couple as they celebrated their win over them in one film published to Balvin’s Instagram Story, while the two buddies sat laughing and pointed at that team.
“Ganamos!” they said in unison, gesturing at their opponents as a playful way of saying, “We won!”
“Nosotros dos!” Butler taunted the losers, calling them “Poopoo face!” as Balvin, 38, repeated in the film, which means “Both of us!” referring to the fact that Balvin and Butler “won against 5” opponents.
Because of their connection, Balvin decided to wear Butler’s number 22 Miami Heat jersey as a tribute.
It seems like Balvin is really close to his celebrity buddies. The musician has spoken publicly about his ties with Ed Sheeran of the United Kingdom and Luis Fonsi of Puerto Rico.
It was early one morning when J and I met in a New York City gym. “I simply went up and said ‘Hi,’ ” since I recognized his voice on the phone. Last March, Sheeran, who is 32 years old, tweeted. After a lengthy conversation, we decided to have lunch and tea in the afternoon. The two then proceeded to engage in constant chitchat like friends.
