The Los Angeles Lakers had a terrible night on Monday. They lost badly to the Philadelphia 76ers 138–94. The 76ers made 22 3-point shots in a row, all of which were meant to score points.
During this game, almost nothing went well for the Lakers. It was only 7 of 28 from beyond the line for them, they gave up a lot of boards, and they missed twice as many free throws as they made.
Even though LeBron James only scored 18 points (8 of 12 shots) in 30 minutes, he has been having a great season as he gets closer to his 39th birthday.
Not long ago, he scored 39,000 points, and on Monday, he surpassed Michael Jordan as the NBA’s all-time leader in both regular season and playoff minutes played.
In Philadelphia four years ago, James reached another important numeric mark when he passed the late great Kobe Bryant on the league’s all-time list of scorers.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the legendary Purple and Gold center who played 20 seasons and is probably the best big man ever, if not the best player ever, is the player James passed to become the all-time leader in minutes. This says something about the Lakers’ long history of winning championships.
