Nicholas Jokic and Alperen Sengun have a special bond.
Vladimir Jokic and Alperen Sengun don’t play for the same team, but they seem to be very close. Sengun and Jokic are often called “baby Jokic” because of the way they play. One more interesting thing about the friendship is that Jokic guides Sengun from afar.
There was a new episode of Podcast P where Alperen Sengun talked about his friendship with Nikola Jokic.
He said, “You know, Jokic isn’t into social media. He cares about basketball and his family.” “But he’s a nice guy from Europe. Everyone in Europe’s big leagues and other teams is so close to each other…He tells me over and over again, “Good job, great job, keep it up.” It’s great for me to have all this great stuff. It’s nice that I don’t try to play like him, but our games are alike.
Nikola Jokic has done things that NBA veterans do a lot of years after they retire. He is only 30 years old. Jokic is the best player for Sengun to copy his style, and the young star is well aware of this.
Sengun, who is 21 years old, shoots 57/32/64 and averages 20.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game. Jokic averaged 16.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game when he was 21 years old. He shot 58.3% of the time and made 83 shots. Their scores are pretty much the same, but Jokic is better at making free throws.
We’ll have to wait and see if Alperen Sengun becomes the MVP that Jokic is, but he’s definitely on the right track, and he has a great coach to help him along the way.
