Sacramento Kings defeat the Golden State Warriors to guarantee a spot in the quarterfinals of the in-season tournament

The Kings overcame a 24-point deficit to defeat the Warriors on Tuesday night at Golden 1 Center and advance to the NBA In-Season Tournament quarterfinals.

With 7.6 seconds remaining, Malik Monk made a bizarre game-winning shot, and Steph Curry missed a buzzer-beater, but the Kings rallied for a thrilling 124-123 triumph.

ImageSacramento made sure they advanced by either beating the Warriors or keeping their deficit to 11 points or fewer in the last game of West Group C.

The Kings will play the Pelicans in Sacramento on Monday at 7 p.m. PT. The NBA is expected to release the quarterfinal schedule on Wednesday.

The Kings lost both games in the series as a result of their poor performance in their first two trips to New Orleans to play the Pelicans this season.

Leading the Kings in scoring with 29 points, De’Aaron Fox was the driving force behind their offensive outburst.

Three Kings players scored in double figures: Malik Monk (21), Harrison Barnes (12), and Kevin Huerter (21).

The Warriors dropped their first game of the season despite stellar efforts from Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins, who combined for 78 points apiece.

Draymond Green returned to the floor following a five-game suspension, and in thirty-three minutes, he scored eight points, pulled down six rebounds, and dished out three assists.

The wild-card Phoenix Suns will visit the top-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in the second Western quarterfinal encounter.

The two West quarterfinal winners will square off in the In-Season Tournament semifinal on Thursday, December 7. The winner of that match will have the opportunity to advance to the NBA Cup final on Saturday, December 9.

The top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks and the unseeded New York Knicks will square off in one Eastern Conference quarterfinal encounter, while the Indiana Pacers and the Boston Celtics will square off in the other.
