The Miami Heat and the New York Knicks are among DeMar DeRozan’s favored destinations.
Given their convenient location, it’s no surprise that the Miami Heat are nearly always the first choice of elite players when they’re on the trade market.
The Heat and the New York Knicks are reportedly on Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan’s want list for a potential trade, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.
“If DeRozan is traded, the Heat and the Knicks are known to be better destinations than him,” Amick stated.
The Bulls’ readiness to part with a costly payroll is still up in the air.
The upcoming summer will see DeRozan become an unrestricted free agent; he is currently in the last year of his deal. So, the Heat may be able to acquire him without trading any real assets, but would it be a wise move?
The playoffs call for stars like DeRozan, who have shown time and again that they can make their own shots.
Because of their shared proficiency in the paint and midrange, DeRozan and Jimmy Butler’s games are quite comparable.
Not to mention Bam Adebayo, who works in the same field as impressive youngster Jaime Jaquez. Not even with Duncan Robinson’s comeback would the court spacing be logical.
Do yourself a favor and never look down on a player of DeRozan’s level. It looks like he’ll be a 20-point man again soon. On paper, though, the roster fit doesn’t seem to work here.
According to Forbes Sports’ Evan Sidery, one possible trade package might include:
Heat receivers Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan
In exchange, the Bulls will get a first-round selection in 2029, Nikola Jovic, Kyle Lowry.
Regardless matter how well it fits, the trade would immediately return the Heat to discussions of the NBA Finals, so it appears like a no-brainer.
