The Warriors’ forward Kevin Durant is on board with LeBron James’ choice to sign with the Lakers.

James’ decision to go West was a “perfect move,” and Durant told The Undefeated’s Marc Spears that he “absolutely loved” the decision.

“It was fabulous! I adored it!” Durant said. I thought it was a fantastic decision; he was able to complete all of his tasks in Cleveland. Not only is this his best course of action, but he is also defying the NBA all-star reputation. It seems like there’s only room for one venue for everything. He accomplished a fantastic job of breaking the book into chapters. When he finishes, I think it will make for a more interesting book.

The Warriors’ acquisition of DeMarcus Cousins, the most unexpected free agency deal of the summer, was another topic Durant covered.

“I knew how important this time was for DeMarcus,” Durant said of DeMarcus’s decision to join the Thunder, “to find a team and find somebody that is going to help him get through this injury first and then play his best basketball.” This realization made Durant “so excited.”

According to Durant, Spears was notified by him that he had received calls at the movies, but he chose to ignore them. However, by the time he got home, the deal had already been sealed. He reached out to Cousins over FaceTime and also called Bob Myers, the general manager of the Warriors.

In my opinion, it will be perfect for any situation. For our own sakes.

The backlash Durant has gotten for the change doesn’t bother him, he says.

“It was clear. A great product is enjoyed by no one. Being outstanding makes you stand out, which might be intimidating to others. Since we entered with a basketball mindset, I found merit in both his and our strategies. It all works out well when you see it that way.

Together with the Warriors, he is hoping that DeMarcus Cousins returns before the year concludes. The team is being patient with Cousins’ recuperation because they want him to be fully healthy when he plays again, something Durant was quick to mention.

Durant will be attending a minicamp in Las Vegas with 35 other players to learn from newly appointed Team USA coach Gregg Popovich.
