Sole Mates: Unveiling the Curry Flow Go – A Sneaker Affair That Begins with Love at First Step

Even though Stephen Curry isn’t a runner, he runs a lot. To help him with his extensive training, Under Armour and Curry worked together to create a pair of fast and responsive running shoes.

During the regular season alone, the three-time NBA champion and two-time league MVP clocks over 2.5 miles per game, which is roughly eight marathons. The cumulative mileage from preseason, during, and after season training, as well as from offseason exercises, is incalculable.

It seemed inevitable that Curry and Under Armour would team up on a high-quality running shoe. The result is the Curry Flow Go, a lightweight, high-performance shoe perfect for the rigors of training that goes well with the Curry Flow 9 basketball shoe.

“Stephen trains in running products when he’s not on the court,” remarks Ryan Drew, VP of Curry Brand. “Accordingly, he reasoned that it would be fantastic to have a Curry Brand running shoe that shared the traits and creative principles of his other offerings.”

The Curry Flow Go commands attention with its powerful and aerodynamic design. It wasn’t long after Curry stepped foot in the shoe that he fell head over heels for it.

“He used it as soon as he got a sample,” remarks Steve Segears, senior merchant for global merchandising at Under Armour. The sneaker won’t be released for another eight to nine months. I almost called him and told him that. However, that instinctive response and affection for it are impossible to suppress.

Part of the aesthetic goal for footwear designer Ed Wallace was to make people want to put them on right now. Making the shoe appear swift was the other component. Aiming to generate velocity by means of aerodynamic forms and textures was my objective,” Wallace explains. “Even when you just look at the silhouette, making it look fast—that was a big deal.”
