LeBron James earned himself a celebration on Tuesday night even though the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated him in the game. He achieved this feat by becoming the NBA’s all-time top scorer with a fadeaway basket in the second half of the contest.
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who had held the record since 1984 when he passed Wilt Chamberlain, was surpassed by James. However, James broke the record in 160 fewer games than Jabbar did, and ‘The King’ is still unstoppable in his 20th season.
James and his colleagues celebrated his historic night at The Fleur Room on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood after he broke the record during Tuesday night’s Los Angeles Lakers loss.
Stars Kelly Rowland, Karrueche Tran, Jimmy Iovine, and Corey Gamble were present, along with James’ wife, Savannah, and a number of his Laker teammates.
Savannah James spoke, because James did as well, expressing his gratitude to his family and everyone there.
More celebrities were spotted courtside during the Lakers game, where Dwyane Wade, Jay-Z, Floyd Mayweather, and Usher were present to watch James shatter the record.
The game was stopped to honor the superstar after James made the shot that put him ahead of Abdul-Jabbar. Abdul-Jabbar was present for the torch-passing ceremony, during which Commissioner Adam Silver spoke before handing James the microphone.
“Thank you so much, guys, for letting me be a part of something I’ve always dreamed about,” he continued. Never in a million years did I think things would get any better than it has tonight.”
James stated: “My spouse, friends, and family are aware that I don’t take credit for the things I’ve accomplished or the things they’ve done for me. Since I handle everything for them.
“Because it’s never about me, I appreciate some of my victories even if I get lost a lot. Without my wife, my children, and my mother, I couldn’t survive… A man cannot complete such a voyage by himself.
“I appreciate all and I love ya’ll, now where are my gifts at?!”.
