Carpool Karaoke, a feature on Apple Music, featured Travis Scott and Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns. While covering some of Scott’s tunes was a given, the duo also explored new musical ground.
Scott is shown sitting shotgun while Durant takes the wheel in an episode teaser. On Scott’s latest album, Astroworld, the pair trade verses on the track “Sicko Mode.” They also rhyme Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Scott’s “Goosebumps” from Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016).
The rapper from Houston showed Durant his eclectic taste in music by relating a story about a musical he was in when he was younger. He admits, “I was in a play called Kiss Me, Kate and it’s like one of my favorite songs,” adding a few bars of “Too Darn Hot” to his confession. “Super Freak,” by Rick James, is another song they tackle. Apple TV users can watch the entire show.
This weekend, Scott will play two performances in New York as part of his North American tour in support of Astroworld. Scott sang “Stop Trying to Be God” and “No Bystanders,” two tracks off his LP, at the Grammys last month.
