They beat the Suns 106–103 in the semifinals to make it to the semi-finals in Las Vegas. It was their biggest win yet. In the In-Season Tournament, they didn’t lose a game.
LeBron James and Kevin Durant were the main players who passed the ball back and forth between teams. With 15 seconds left, Austin Reaves made the best 3-point shot of the night.
Anthony Davis had a great night with 27 points and 15 boards. LeBron James also had a great night with 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 steals. The Suns couldn’t move because Jarred Vanderbilt had a great defense. He also grabbed six boards, four of which were offensive, which had an impact.
The Lakers were able to keep their energy up because Reaves scored so many points in the second half. He set up six other shots, scored twenty points, and passed the ball twice.
KD missed the first shot for the Suns, but LeBron and D’Angelo scored for the Lakers. LéBron planned everything, and he gave his friends different chances, which they took. The Lakers passed the ball a lot; they got eight in the first few minutes, with LeBron scoring four of them.
When Vando came in, the Lakers’ defense got a million times better. By the end of the quarter, the Suns had turned the ball over ten times. They had a 33–23 lead. In the third quarter, Davis scored 14 points.
The Lakers kept playing great defense, just like they did in the first quarter. This made it hard for the Suns to come up with an attack that always worked. They were ahead by 13 points when Rui Hachimura made a 3-pointer while being defended in the ninth minute.
The Suns made some mistakes that let them go on a run that cut the lead to 10. It’s too bad that the Lakers’ attack slowed down. They had a terrible stretch where they missed all of their shots.
The offensive rebounds that Vando got were very helpful in stopping some of the damage. They led to a D’Angelo 3-pointer that made it 59-47 at halftime.
It looked like the Lakers’ attack was down for most of the third quarter. They were tired after the first half and had already lost the ball nine times. They also couldn’t stop Grayson Allen from making threes, which helped the Suns’ offense.
Austin Reaves made some shots that went in, which kept the Lakers’ offense going. A-Max Christie’s three-point shot gave the Lakers a two-point lead again. The Lakers were ahead 83–82 at the end of the third, and Reaves had 17 points.
Both teams made goals and didn’t play as much defense at the start of the fourth quarter. LeBron made the team look bad by hitting tough shots and threes.
It was a close game the whole fourth quarter, with both teams swapping points. With three minutes left, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker both had five fouls. By three points, the Suns were still in the game.
With one minute left in the game, LeBron once again stepped up and put the team on his back to help the Lakers take a five-point lead.
While the game was still going on, Reaves made a huge three-point shot that put the Lakers four points ahead. After an easy Durant layup, the Suns were only down two points, but AD’s two free throws helped seal the win.
