LeLandedinVega: Lakers go to Vegas for their IST matchup with the Pelicans.
The NBA Prohibits the Los Angeles Lakers from Wearing Black During Seasonal Tournaments
Wearing their black In-Season Tournament uniforms, the Los Angeles Lakers will take on the New Orleans Pelicans in the Las Vegas semifinals. Due to concerns about the visual contrast with the floor design, the NBA has asked the squad not to wear them. ESPN’s Dave McMenamin broke the news of the decision and provided a two-word statement from a Lakers player.
The NBA is prohibiting the Lakers from wearing their uniforms in the semifinals due to concerns about the visual disparity between them and the custom-designed in-season court at T-Mobile Arena. When the Lakers were informed they couldn’t wear black on Thursday, one player said, “That’s ass.”
The Lakers are 3-0 this season when wearing black jerseys, reliving the magic of the Black Mamba shirt from 2020—which helped the team go 4-1 in the bubble and win the title. It will frustrate fans who have grown to appreciate the Lakers’ Black statement edition jersey to watch them play in the semi-finals wearing their recognizable gold uniforms.
If the jersey could be worn again during the season, it would be fantastic.
James’s Favorite Event Is The Seasonal TournamentThe Lakers still have the same excitement for the tournament even though they can’t wear their black jerseys when they play the Pelicans in the semifinals. Not a single player has voiced any negative comments about the event after the first round, despite the fact that every team has gone above and above to participate.
LeBron’s team first set out to win the tournament because of the financial incentive. James called tournament director Adam Silver a genius in response to an ESPN query about the event’s performance.
Adam Silver is outstanding, in my opinion. It really is that simple. This is definitely working, I can tell.
James is a serious candidate for Most Valuable Player of the Season because of his stellar play throughout the competition. After scoring 31 points, dishing out 11 assists, stealing five rebounds, and grabbing eight rebounds in the Lakers’ thrilling victory over the Suns yesterday night, there is no denying LeBron James’ dominance on the court. He has led the team to two victories so far, and he deserves two more.
The more experienced Pelicans squad will play the Lakers in the semifinals. After having tough starts to the season with injuries, both teams have recently returned to full health. Among the important players for the Pellies who will play are Trey Murphy III, Herb Jones, CJ McCollum, Brandon Ingram, and Zion Williamson.
The Pellies progressed to the quarterfinals and overcame the Kings after defeating the Nuggets, Mavericks, Rockets, and Clippers in their group. The Lakers are hopeful that Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Cam Reddish’s return will be enough to overcome this formidable foe.
