Giannis Antetokounmpo, his fiancée Mariah Riddlesprigger, and their sons Liam and Maverick donated necessities to low-income southwest Milwaukee neighborhood residents on Sunday. He carried a child at his side and another on his shoulders.
At Milwaukee’s Hayat Pharmacy on Sunday, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Mariah Riddlesprigger, Liam Antetokounmpo, Maverick Antetokounmpo, and volunteers from the Milwaukee Diaper Mission distributed diapers to those in need.
They were among the large number of volunteers who assisted at the Milwaukee Diaper Mission’s drive-up distribution event, which was held at Hayat Pharmacy, 807 W. Layton Ave., to give out food, wipes, diapers, and other supplies.
“We wanted to put this event together so that we could support families with the essentials they need right before the holidays and give back to the community,” said Meagan Johnson, one of the Diaper Mission’s co-founders.
This year’s BIG Give Back marked the conclusion of the annual diaper and charity campaign organized by the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation in support of MDM.
Being able to give meals, diapers, and necessities for his children is a blessing, Riddlesprigger, a member of MDM’s board of directors, said to the Journal Sentinel. “My goal is to assist others in doing the same deed.” It’s crucial to assist others in just supporting their families and relieving them of one worry.
Several businesses, such as Culver’s, and charitable organizations, such as Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, participated on Sunday.
Not only did the children need food and medications, but 300 households also needed to receive 40,000 diapers.
At Hayat Pharmacy on Layton Avenue in Milwaukee, cars line up to get food, diapers, gift cards to Culver’s, and other necessities on Sunday.
The manner in which the distribution was executed
A automobile approached the front of the line and stopped first at Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin’s tables piled high with food.
Every car received a cardboard box filled with staples like peanut butter, bags of apples, potatoes, and onions, frozen chicken, and cans of soup and spaghetti sauce, according to FAEW vice president of development and communications Scott Marshall.
Physicians Realty Trust and Equitable Advisors, according to Marshall, were the companies who volunteered at this booth and helped cover the cost of the food that was served.
The automobile made its way to the Diaper Mission tent, where guests could purchase wipes, diapers, and pull-ups in sizes two and five, as well as infant through six.
MDM organizes two to four distribution events a year that are similar to Sunday’s.
“These events really help us accomplish our goal of providing our community with a reliable source of diapers,” Johnson stated.
The last stop for the vehicle was the Hayat Pharmacy booth, where bags containing children’s pain relief and educational literature about the organizations involved in the event were being distributed.
The director of marketing at Hayat, Kristen Adams, stated, “We know the need is great.” “We want our families and all of our babies to be content and healthy.”
Hayat also provided flu and COVID vaccinations.
Additionally, Culver’s distributed free scoop tokens and $5 gift cards during the event.
